Upright Carry

For Newborns and Younger Babies

With your sling over one shoulder, place the baby high on your other shoulder, holding him with one hand on his back or bottom.  With your other hand, hold out the outer fabric of the sling, creating a pouch.

Slide the baby into the pouch.  His feet and most of his body will be inside the sling.

/i//tn_upright4.JPG Ensure that the inner fabric of the sling is pulled up high enough that the baby will not slip out the bottom.  Pull the tail of the sling tight.

For Older Babies and Toddlers

As in the upright carry for newborns, hold the baby high on your shoulder.  Hold out both the outer and inner fabric of the sling, and slide the baby down, so that his legs and feet are hanging below the sling and his bottom will be in the sling.
