African Violet Slings are made in British Columbia, Canada, by mother of two, Laura Stock.

"When I was pregnant with my daughter, Violet, now 7 years old, I bought a sling to carry her.  Unfortunately, though, I was not sure how to use it properly and it seemed terribly uncomfortable.  I did not end up using it very often.

When I was pregnant with my son, Jeremiah, now 4 years old, I was determined to try the sling again.  I did a lot of research on how to use it, but once again, I found it to be uncomfortable.  It had a narrow shoulder strap that cut into my neck.  I replaced the strap with a wider one, and voila!  Much more comfortable.  I made numerous slings, each one a little different than the last, until I found a design that was perfect for me - a sling with a wide strap, no padding, and an open tail.  I carried Jeremiah in the sling for most of the day, for his first year of life.  We both enjoyed it very much.  I continued to use it frequently until he was about 2 years and 8 months old.  It was still really comfortable, even though he weighed 27 pounds!

People were always asking me about my sling, and many asked me to make one for them.  That was the start of my sling career.  I was able to sell many slings locally.  In 2005, I decided to take my business to the next level, and here I am with this website.

Every African Violet sling is carefully handmade, by me, on my antique Singer treadle sewing machine.  I hope that you will find a sling here that you love, and I really look forward to helping you be connected to your baby!"
