You can wear your baby in a sling while working, shopping, doing housework, or going for a walk. The possibilities are endless.
There are many different carrying positions that can be used to wear your baby or child in a sling. The first thing to do is to put your sling on over whichever shoulder feels right for you. Some parents who are right-handed prefer to have the sling over their right shoulder, so that the baby, in some positions, such as Upright Carry, and Hip Carry, is on the left side of their body, and out of the way. Other right-handed parents prefer to have the sling over their left shoulder, so that their right shoulder is left free to be raised easily above their head in order to reach for things.
Wear the sling so that the back and shoulder strap are flat against your body, and the rings are on your chest, halfway between your shoulder and breast. One very important step is to pull the fabric tail of the sling tight enough that the baby is secure against your chest. The baby should not flop about or hang down low.
